<p>Whereas campaign contributions are out of control and cause much consternation and concern among the citizenry, and </p>
<p>Whereas Americans are rightly justified in being concerned about runaway deficit spending while, at the same time, being in need of universal health care, etc.</p>
<p>Be it resolved that all future campaign expenditures by any legal or illegal entity operating on behalf of any candidate, political party or special interest issue that can be influenced by any elected official in any capacity shall be expended thusly:</p>
<p>Each dollar spent for political purposes shall be matched by the spender by a three dollar contribution to the United States Treasury and applied to the outstanding deficit.</p>

<p>The way I see it, if we made them folks spending money to influence how America operates and who gets elected spent three times as much to pay down the deficit, it would only take a few elections for the United States government to have a balanced budget.</p>
